Following a period of significant expansion, the organisation was focusing on consolidation.
We carried out a strategic review of the business and created an action plan to address the needs identified, as follows:
- Management training
- Standardisation of working practices
- Review of staffing and shift patterns
- Improvements in sickness and absence.
We subsequently provided the following services:
- Mentoring, coaching and training to develop the skills of the management team
- Commercial awareness training for key staff, aligning the profit objectives of the business with their care responsibilities and culture.
Outcome: Cost savings and consolidation of business performance resulting from better management, improved morale and more robust systems.

Natural Oil and Gas Transportation Company, South Wales
Following the acquisition of a new business, the parent company commissioned us to carry out a strategic review to establish the following:
- How to achieve greatest customer value from the synergies and difference between the two businesses
- A SWOT analysis of the combined expertise to determine what should be retained and what lost
- Client profiling to see which should be retained and which lost
- Responsiblilities for particular aspects of service delivery
- What the company’s USP was now
Following a comprehensive audit of the businesses, their current structures and management personnel, we found problems with the integration of many parts of the businesses and identified that the priority was to quickly establish new corporate governance and identity in order to unite all parts of the new group. We presented proposals setting out what the governance should look like, who should lead it and what individual roles and responsibilities should be, including a project implementation plan.
Outcome: Assisted the company with its short and medium term direction, resulting in cost savings through relocation and economies of scale, and management structure.

International Removals and Shipping Business, Bristol
We supported the owner of this already successful business to develop the following areas, in order to significantly improve customer service and profitability:
- Conducted strategic analysis of the business
- Restructured the Transport and Warehousing departments, increasing capacity and saving 30% cost
- Implemented personnel (HR) systems and handbook
- Delivered Sales team training to increase the conversion of enquiries to orders
- Implemented operations and financial reporting systems
- Implemented Lean Enterprise.
Outcome: Achieved target improvement in profits and service levels within agreed time-frame.

Retail Display Equipment Manufacturer
Supported the client with the development of a new website to reach a wider audience:
- created a marketing strategy and a budgeted plan
- project managed the development of the new website, including:
- creating the initial specification, obtaining proposals and selecting the web-developers
- deciding and buying domain names
- managing the style, look and feel of the site
- researching keywords and incorporating them into the copy
- copy writing the written content
- on-site Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- quality testing and sign-off of the site
- high-quality flyer, trade press-release and direct marketing letter to promote the website.
Outcome: The new website was launched to time, brief and budget, with no disruption to the client who was free to remain focused on running the business.

A South West Local Authority
We worked with the Children and Young People’s Directorate to implement a number of Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) projects using the public sector’s ‘SPRINT’ methodology. We ensured a complete analysis of the problems and solutions. The areas of focus were:
- Schools admissions
- Organisation of courses
- Provision for excluded pupils
- The smooth introduction of direct dial across the Local Authority
- We also trained staff in using SPRINT.
Outcome: Dramatic improvements in ways of working, resulting in financial savings towards central government targets, whilst maintaining high quality services. Staff skilled in using SPRINT for future projects.

We provide part-time administrative support to ensure essential business systems are in place and maintained.
Outcomes:
- Operational staff are free to focus on design and production work
- Improved management information and control
- Purchase orders and invoices are raised and issued appropriately

Double Glazing Manufacturer
We carried out a review of the business and introduced strategies for profit recovery and medium-term growth. MGC recommended a move to LEAN enterprise. Subsequently we assisted with staff training and implementation of LEAN.
Outcome: The business increased profits in a mature market.
